THE QUESTION OF HOW SOUTHPORT’S TORY GANG SEEK TO STRANGLE OUR FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION & OPINION

Political bullies come in all shapes and sizes and often the more ill-mannered ones are the easiest to discredit. Let’s take a look at this issue in a little more detail.

I was rather fascinated (and quite amused) at this somewhat rambling tirade on the OTS News site that was ‘allegedly’ written by one ‘ex-Conservative’ parliamentary hopeful , Mr Brian Duckett.

I gather that this was an emotional dummy-spitting response to an article on the verifiable dangers of unchecked ‘Street Nationalism’, which I had written in good faith before.

BD/TrueBlue (love that name) appears to be quite good at telling us all what we should do and what we must accept, or even ‘believe’, but he’s not really very good at taking a little well-meant analysis on the chin himself.

So it would seem that this self-promoting Tory politician (who is largely an unknown entity within the town) considers my family to be both “Peculiar” and also “Unhinged”.  He also it seems tried to wind up his readers, via asking if my family are  "travellers", knowing that this remark may generate street bias into his tirade due to the unpopularity of that particular minority. Tut tut, somewhat below the belt tactics here I felt!  

That was  not really very nice behaviour was it for 'gentlemen' previously wanted our essential votes to become our Southport MP? 

Silly name calling is also so extremely unprofessional I feel for one who wishes to advance himself so rapidly within Southport’s ‘respectable’ (no don’t laugh) political circles.

He then continues to insult me as a UFO researcher/author obviously in order to cultivate (he thinks) any customary prejudicial support for his blatantly limited position against others who merely seek greater answers in our universe and beyond. How mature is that?

Such negative bias is of course nothing original. I have a plethora of examples wherein UFO critics, with far greater intellectual aptitude than him, from all walks of life have suddenly changed opinion after seeing something strange that they could ‘not’ explain away in logical terms.

In fact if Mr Duckett/BD/TrueBlue had bothered to examine the issue a little more carefully he would see that my extensive international research has always be fair-handed and that I have discredited countless so-called UFO sighting that were nothing of the sort. How clever he must feel to possess all the answers, it must be lovely to be so self-assured!

The “grasp of reality”, that he so haughtily mentions to readers, is nothing more than evidence of his restricted and woefully out of touch world view. Is this the same “grasp of reality” that showed us all how much he was going to do for the town and then failed to carry his one-man crusade through to ultimate conclusion? Perhaps if he hangs about smiling profusely enough at Tory fund-raising events, one of his political superiors will throw him a bone or two by way of a possibility to stand in a local ward – who knows?

He also apparently seeks sympathy for other local Tory politicians (presumably Cllr Terry Jones who threatened my family via email and Cllr Ted Hartill the director of the ludicrous WWP fiasco) who I have been most privileged to report on.

‘ONE FOR ALL, ALL FOR ONE’

Naturally, when ‘push comes to shove’ the lads do like to promptly close ranks and stick together. Could we ever expect anything more?

It’s ‘Party before Residents’ every time, to some!

This blind political allegiance, come what may, is comically reminiscent of the Three Musketeers.

‘One for all, All for one’, so no big surprise there then!

It therefore seems that divulging the truth behind some political type’s results in nothing greater than personal abuse against the writer’s family and lifestyle for having the audacity to highlight the issues at hand, including absolute deficiency towards local residents, wherever it may be found.  

 I shall not labour the fact that when one asks Cllr Ted Jones for assistance his customary response eventually appears to lead to childish legal threats against one’s family. All exceptionally peculiar stuff indeed from the indisputably mixed up, ‘Boys in Blue’ here...

Of course in political terms many would now say Mr Duckett is a ‘nonentity’ today.

Nevertheless, I wanted to simply highlight one or two issues above as I believe the Southport public do have a right to know what is behind the political situation today.

Bullies of all kinds must be challenged - for if they are not we may as well go back to the days of the Jack Boot!

To be quite honest, Mr Duckett’s pompous advice about me playing with my “fishing tackle” is perhaps the only constructive part of his crude post. This gives us more insight into how such politicians think and how they continue to treat residents who fail to tow their line.  

And the lesson in all this is? 

Disagree with highly opinionated politicians like the above and your family will soon be targeted with personal abuse and threats.

Today’s Southport political fiasco  ... can democracy ever get any ‘worse’?
