In 1952, the British state broke Alan Turing. They didn’t use a gallows or a stake; they used a syringe. The father of modern computer science, the man who broke the Enigma code and saved millions of lives from fascism, was subjected to state-sanctioned chemical castration.
His path to prosecution began when he reported a burglary at his home. During the routine police investigation, Turing naively but honestly acknowledged his relationship with a younger man, Arnold Murray, who was connected to the thief. Because consensual male relationships were completely illegal under British law at the time, the police immediately dropped the burglary inquiry and turned the full weight of the law against Turing himself. He was charged and convicted of 'gross indecency'. Two years after being forced to choose between prison or physical chemical castration, this national hero was dead.
While history books often frame Turing’s tragedy as an isolated failure of mid-century British law, let’s be entirely honest about the source: the British state didn't invent this cruelty - it inherited it from the Church.
As a Pagan, I look at Turing’s destruction and see the exact same machine that spent centuries burning our ancestors, chopping down our sacred groves, and erasing the fluid, diverse understandings of human nature that existed long before monotheism. The law used to destroy Turing was the direct legal descendant of King Henry VIII’s Buggery Act of 1533, which codified medieval Christian church dogma into secular law.
The Root of the Rot: A Culture Built on a Lie
To understand why they did this to a hero like Turing, we have to look at what lies beneath all Abrahamic faith systems. As I have exposed before, these faiths are built on The Great Lie - a total myth. Secular scholars and modern archaeology have proven that characters like Abraham are nothing more than literary inventions. There is no contemporary physical evidence, no monuments, and no signatures.
Yet, for centuries, our society has been trapped in this clever piece of fiction. When a culture’s roots are rotten, the branches fall off, and it dies. And the rotten branch that broke Alan Turing was the arrogant belief that a man-made book of ancient folklore gives the state the divine authority to police human bodies, manipulate minds, and destroy natural human variance.
The Abrahamic worldview fundamentally portrays "Man as the Lead Actor and Earth as the Stage," pursuing a sterile, unchanging perfection while despising the real, organic world. Because they view nature as 'fallen' or something to be conquered, they cannot tolerate anyone who lives outside their synthetic script. Turing’s natural, organic orientation was a threat to their control. So, just like the modern politicians who view nature as a broken machine to be engineered from a boardroom, the 1950s court system treated Turing’s biology like a carbon ledger that needed to be forcibly rewritten.
If you think this violent ethos died with Turing in 1954, or that the Church has genuinely repented, you are missing the battlefield right in front of you. The strategy has merely evolved, using the exact same Abrahamic worksheet to control the trusting masses today:
1. The Modern Torture: Suppressing Human Nature
Turing was forced to take synthetic estrogen to 'cure' his nature - a medicalised form of torture justified by religious morality. Today, that exact same impulse thrives under the banner of coercive practices meant to forcibly alter an individual's natural orientation. Fundamentalist Christian groups globally fight tooth and nail to protect their 'right' to use psychological manipulation and shame to break young minds. The underlying belief is identical to 1952: who you naturally are is a moral failure that must be forcibly rewritten to satisfy their dogma.
2. The War on Bodily Autonomy
The current political and cultural obsession with policing human bodies and identities is being heavily driven and preached from fundamentalist Christian pulpits. The rhetoric is a carbon copy of the language used against Turing. They call individuals who do not conform to traditional gender expectations "threats to the natural order." For centuries, the Church has claimed a monopoly on defining what is 'natural,' using its power to crush anyone whose body or identity reflects the beautiful, fluid diversity of the actual Earth.
3. The Exportation of Oppression
Where the Church loses its grip on power in secularised Western nations, it exports its medieval violence elsewhere. Western evangelical organisations have poured massive financial resources into the Global South - most notably lobbying for draconian laws that criminalise personal relationships in nations like Uganda and Ghana. Laws that carry the death penalty or lifetime imprisonment for private individuals are being drafted by hands holding Bibles. The Church didn’t reform; it just relocated its worst atrocities to where it can still pull the levers of state power.
The Pagan Resistance
Our ancient Pagan ancestors knew they were a part of nature, not 'apart' from it. In the real, natural world, there is no demonic adversary and no cosmic sin - there is only cause and effect. Nature loves variety. It thrives on chaotic diversity, balance, and the infinite expressions of life.
The persecution of Alan Turing was a crime against Nature itself, perpetrated by an institutional system of psychological manipulation built on fantasy and old-time propaganda.
We cannot let them rewrite history to frame a true hero's death as an isolated accident. It was a theological hit. And until we completely dismantle the fraudulent Abrahamic programming that treats natural human variation as a sin, the high priests of control will keep claiming victims.
