SYCAMORE – WRECKING PAIR JAILED - but it's part of a larger problem!

Two – Tier UK Law – totally screwed up when it comes to the natural environment.

TWO MEN BEHIND ‘SENSELESS’ FELLING OF SYCAMORE GAP TREE JAILED FOR MORE THAN FOUR YEARS

Two men who carried out a “moronic mission” to fell one of the most loved and photographed trees in the UK have been jailed.

Daniel Graham, 39, and Adam Carruthers, 32, were each given prison sentences of four years and three months for an act of criminal damage that caused the Sycamore Gap tree to crash down on to Hadrian’s wall in Northumberland on a stormy September night in 2023.

WHAT A DISGRACEFULLY LENIENT SENTENCE, WHICH PROVES HOW SCREWED UP THIS COUNTRY IS WHEN IT COMES TO LAW AND ORDER.

With time served and good behaviour these two SYCAMORE - HATERS  may well be out in about 2 years or less.

One example of a much larger problem

Across the UK, countless cowboy odd jobbers with rusty vans and chain saws blissfully ignore essential UK wildlife regulations and do the SAME THING every summer during bird nesting time.

They don't just get away with excessive eco-destruction on a NATIONAL SCALE, but they also get applauded and PAID to wreck hedgerows and fell wildlife – rich trees by terminally – stupid ‘neat and tidy’ garden owners...

Moreover, many councils mount controversial tree - felling operations that damage fragile ecosystems, while at the same time telling the rest of us how ‘environmentally conscious’ we must all be. As always – DOUBLE STANDARDS STINK!

The felling of the famous sycamore has prompted calls for tighter legal protections for trees. This is not only to help prevent similar crimes against nature but also to help the public appreciate the true value of trees at a time when many of our woodlands are seen as 'obsticles to remove' by our profit - driven authorities and greedy housing firms hungry for new development land.

Activities that can harm birds

These activities can affect wild birds, particularly during breeding season:
trimming or cutting trees, bushes, hedges and rough vegetation
renovating, converting or demolishing a building
creating disturbance, i.e. noise, lighting and vibration
taking actions to prevent problems, i.e. shooting birds or removing nests

In the UK you’re breaking the law and may be fined or jailed if you:

Intentionally take, damage or destroy a wild bird’s nest while it’s being used or built - intentionally take or destroy a wild bird’s egg - disturb them while they’re nesting, building a nest, in or near a nest that contains their young - disturb their dependent young.
