During the war death from friendly fire was quite well publicised in the media. However, today a lot of the harsh and uncomfortable realities appear to have been conveniently brushed under the carpet.
Churchill’s heavy artillery killed thousands of Londoners in the early 1940s. One expert working at Cambridge’s Cavendish Laboratory estimated that half the shells exploded at ground level, killing as many individuals as the Nazi bombers did.
If true, this would indicate that the British army and their artillery were accountable for over 25,000 deaths in Britain during the Second World War.
Always rely on our trusted politicians and the selective narrative they spin.
