Powered paragliding is also known as paramotoring or PPG.
During this type of ultralight aviation the pilot wears a back-mounted motor (a paramotor).
This delivers enough thrust to take off using a paraglider. It can be launched in still air, and on level ground, by the pilot.
Yesterday, a few intrepid fliers were seen on the shore at Ainsdale heading off to Formby Point.
Others decided on a more conventional mode of flight.
