Feeding our garden birds doesn't need to be a costly affair.
Species like the blackbird, robin and thrush also love to watch gardeners work when soil is being turned over, as this provides an opportunity to grab a few worms to feed the chicks.
The wonder of nature is right on our doorstep.
However, birds also need lawns to gather food from but warnings have been issued by expert environmentalists. The mounting fashion to lay fake lawns instead of real grass causes loss of habitat for wildlife and creates waste that is not biodegradable.
