Take the kids fishing now...

Is it any wonder that children today are fixated with mind-numbing television shows, computer games and hanging around on street corners kicking footballs at pensioners' windows when their apathetic parents/grandparents fail to show them what is outside in our wonderful UK countryside?

Jason cannot ever be accused of such intransigence for he is happiest when fishing and each new trip he makes ensures his love for the natural environment increases threefold.

His latest venture to the Leeds & Liverpool Canal saw him catch 5 fish. Moreover, one was a small chub, which seems to be quite a rarity at this venue.

Jason was tickled pink to catch a chub as this was the first time he had encountered this species.

He also caught roach and perch.

Not to be outdone, dad caught 8 fish including bream.

Jason took the following action videos...

And perch...

As well as roach, which remains the most predominant species..

Canals are chock full of roach and some reach very good sizes herein. If I had to choose a 'best bait' it would simply have to be bread.

NB. Here's Jason in his earlier years chasing the bream...

All our fish are taken on vintage tackle and with my traditional, hand-made floats.
