Anti- Pagan papal bias that led to the deaths of millions…
Right – it’s time to set the record straight.
Saint Francis of Assisi (born Giovanni Francesco di Bernardone; 1181/1182 – October 3, 1226) was an Italian Catholic friar and preacher. On July 16, 1228, Francis was pronounced a saint by Pope Gregory IX, who was in fact a pal of his. Francis is known as the Patron Saint of Animals.
I for one am NOT having this. Why?
OK, so Pope Gregory IX was no fit person to be going around canonising anyone.
This guy’s most lasting action was a seemingly inconsequential item. His papal letter 'Vox in Rama' of 1232 is attributed with the defamation of cats, through its description of alleged cult practices involving felines. This led to an immense reduction in the number of vermin-hunting cats.
This papal act ultimately, a hundred years later, most likely contributed to the rapid spread of the Black Death plague. This killed one-third to one-half of the population of Europe. He also sent many to their deaths via crusades to far-away lands. Consequently, the guy in the pointy hats had no right whatsoever to go around making anyone saints (alleged bastions of good virtue) when his crazy actions resulted in the deaths of millions in Europe.
There is, as expected, some controversy about this pope's alleged disdain for cats. However, his own words do strongly indicate that he regarded cats of being in league with Satan, and so the widespread consequences of linking animals to ecclesiastically – fashioned evil are not hard to deduce.
Heretics (that’s folks who failed to accept the Church’s dictatorial mindscrew) were perceived as satanic demon worshippers. Linking them with animals in fabricated rites proved a useful Church ruse to get rid of the dissenters.
So there you go folks – a religious zealot who is also a mass killer has no right to promote anyone to such lofty, ecclesiastical positions.
You will just have to make do with me for now ….although with
me being a Pagan, I reckon the current guy in the pointy hat may disqualify me for
future canonisation….ho ho…
Plus, of course the fact that Christian saints are largely
based on much earlier Pagan deities too…
Ancient social lies, based on indoctrinated ignorance, deceit and intolerance, tarnish us all at the end of the day!
